Michel Wulf's class studied Gaugin's Cafe at Night and Munch's The Scream in art, painted their versions of the art and and worked with a partner to write poems about how the paintings made them feel.
Here is a link to a video showing three Barrington grade 4 classes and three Barrington Grade 5 classes working with Kate Hastings from the UAPL on story telling. The classes had three sessions with Kate. They used traditional folktales, made them into story boards and practiced retelling them. The video shows the work so far. There will be some groups who will practice using the iPod and video camera to get their stories into performance quality. We were impressed with the aid to fluency story boards gave to the students.
